Partnership with parents

As partners in the mission to educate and disciple young men and women through a classical Christian education, Summit Christian Academy and the parents of its students pledge to pursue the following partnership to ensure a healthy relationship.

IN LOCO PARENTIS

God has given parents the privilege, authority, and responsibility of raising children (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4). When parents choose to partner with Summit Christian Academy, they do so with the understanding that the school serves in loco parentis, a Latin term meaning “in the place of a parent.” This concept refers to the school’s role in acting as an extension of the parents’ authority and responsibility while students are under the school’s care. This means that, while Summit Christian Academy honors parents as the primary role in guiding their children’s education and spiritual growth, it also takes on certain responsibilities in overseeing students’ conduct, development, and well-being during school hours. Summit Christian Academy administration, faculty, and staff partner with parents to nurture and educate students in a manner consistent with scripture and the vision and mission of the school.

Partnership with Parents

Dads of Faith

Summit Christian Academy is a tremendous blessing to our family that we didn’t know we were missing until we experienced it. The Christian worldview, depth of educational content and delivery, and real partnership between families and teachers/staff are refreshing and encouraging. Summit was a large part of our decision to remain in this area after Air Force retirement, and we are so thankful to be part of this school family!

What we liked was that the values that we were learning as young parents to teach our children were mirrored and reinforced by Summit. So that partnership in developing their character and their intellect was really valuable. This is more than an ordinary school. We did see it as an investment, not just academically, but an investment in their character and in the building of their faith. – Mathew and Loretta Roberson, Alumni Parents

I attended Summit from 9th – 12th grade, and it shaped the person I am today. After graduation, I attended college and felt prepared to handle the challenges due to the education I received. Once I began building my family, my desire was for my own children to have a strong classical Christian education that would prepare them for life ahead. All three of my children now attend Summit. Knowing that my children will get to experience the same love, education, and community I had made the decision an easy one to make.
