Jon Ashmore

Jon Ashmore has a Bachelors degree in Computational Mathematics from Hillsdale College, and is currently working on a graduate degree in Evangelism and Apologetics from Dallas Theological Seminary.   Jon and his wife, Jessica, have four children, one is a Summit graduate, one currently attends Summit and two are homeschooled. Both Jon and Jessica are members of PCC. Jon has recently transitioned occupations after 20 years in the Marine Corps.

Jared Christophel

Jared Christophel ​graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in Chemistry, and the University of Virginia with a Doctor of Medicine.   He practiced Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia for 10 years where he was awarded tenure.  While in Charlottesville, he served on the board of Regents School of Charlottesville for six years. In 2020, Dr. Christophel left the academic world to join a private practice in Hampton, Virginia.  Jared is married to Rebecca, a native of Yorktown, VA.   Jared and Rebecca met on a medical missions trip in Peru, and he continues to serve on medical missions trips with ten trips to Kenya in as many years.  They have four children, one a Summit Graduate, and then two that currently still attend Summit.   Dr. Christophel attends Peninsula Community Chapel.

Sue Freeman

Sue Freeman earned a BA in German and Elementary Education from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and an MA in School Administration from Regent University in Virginia Beach. She taught grades 4th, 5th and 6th at Northside Christian School in Mounds View, Minnesota, and 5th grade at Hilton Head Christian Academy in South Carolina. After serving as Assistant Principal for Nursery through 12th grade at Evangel Christian School in Lakeland Florida, Mrs. Freeman married and served as a missionary with her husband Don in France where she spent much of her time as Director of the College Daniel International School Teacher Training Program. Upon return to the United States, Sue was hired as a teacher when Summit Christian Academy opened its doors in 1996 and shortly thereafter served as the Grammar School Principal from 1998 until her retirement in 2014. She currently assists at Vineyard Church of the Peninsula where her husband is the lead Pastor.

David Price

David Price earned his BA in Psychology from Christopher Newport University (CNU) and graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a master’s in divinity and counseling. After graduation from CNU David went into full-time ministry as the Hampton director of Campus Life (Youth For Christ). In years to come he became the Hampton Area Young Life director. David would soon be called to the mission field with Young Life International and helped establish Young Life Netherlands. He moved home from there and became the Youth Pastor at Menchville Baptist Church and then on to seminary. After graduation from seminary, David became the Lead Pastor at Grafton Baptist church. David met his wife Tara while he was a missionary in the Netherlands and she came over as a leader from her church to help the ministry. David and Tara have two amazing daughters, one graduated from Summit and is attending CNU, while the oldest will graduate this spring from Liberty University.

david staton

David Staton holds a Master of Science in Adult and Continuing Education from Kansas State University, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. He began his professional career as a public-school teacher before commissioning in the U.S. Army, where he recently retired from active duty. He continues his service today as a contractor for the Department of Defense. David has a deep affection for his wife, Anna, and together they are proud of their three amazingly unique children. Two of their children attend Summit Christian Academy, and their eldest, a graduate of Summit, now attends James Madison University. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors and serving and worshipping together at Peninsula Community Chapel.

christy sutton

Christy Suttonholds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and currently works as a Registered Nurse at Patient First Urgent Care in Newport News. Her life’s purpose has always been rooted in service, evident from her early experiences as a nurse with Mercy Ships in Africa and the Caribbean, continuing alongside her husband, Jason, for 25 years in the Air Force and now as a Core Team member of Serve the City Peninsula.  As an active-duty family, they raised three children and relocated 13 times.  Her focus on ministry shifted to the military community and the seven schools in which their children attended. She continued to serve in various organizations such as the Key Spouse program, Officer Christian Fellowship, the Red Cross and Moms in Prayer groups around the globe.  After many moves, Christy and her husband settled in Virginia. Their two sons graduated from Tabb High School, and their daughter, Olivia, attended Summit Christian Academy from 7th grade, graduating in 2023. Her experience with multiple school systems around the world gives her a deep appreciation of the Mission and Vision of Summit Christian Academy and she is honored to be a champion for the next generation to experience God-centered, classical education.
